An Archaeological Field Technician is hired to take responsibility for conducting fieldwork relating to archaeological investigations. While the actual duties vary based on the nature of the project, the following are certain core tasks seen on the Archaeological Field Technician Resume – conducting field surveys, testing and data recovery; drawing features in plan and ensuring it conforms with mapping conventions; cleaning and straightening the walls of the test unit; completing field forms, and labeling properly the collections. Other core duties also include supervising the crew, assisting in the development and execution of research design; and proofreading paperwork for omissions and errors.
Hiring companies require their field technicians to possess at least a degree in anthropology or equivalent education. However, certain roles require a master’s degree and supervisory experience.
