The primary duty of an Associate Minister is to assist the Head Pastor in leading the Church. The regular tasks may vary based on the Church, but certain tasks are common and are listed on the Associate Minister Resume as follows – serving as the second preacher at the church, offering services in the absence of the Pastor, working alongside the head minister in developing sermons and preparing the order of service; contacting church members outside the church, visiting church members, supervising teams of outreach personnel; and providing counseling service to church members.
The most sought-after qualifications for the post include the following – the ability to teach and preach special classes to diverse people, strong communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work in harmony, knowledge or full grasp on the purpose, value, and strategy of the church. While there no pre-set requirements, a background in religious education will serve the purpose.
