An ER Tech is an Emergency Room Technician who will work in the emergency rooms at hospitals and assist the doctors and nurses during operations or surgeries. The job description is basic but critical in nature and such are included on the ER Tech Resume as follows – drawing blood samples from the patient, setting up the emergency room for operation, preparing the patient for the process, collecting and delivering lab samples, dressing up the wounds, assisting in patient transportation, connecting patients to an ECG machine, monitoring heartbeats, intubating and catheterizing patient if needed and keeping the ER room stocked.
Candidates need a broad range of skill sets in order to work in this position and such include – certification in CPR, understanding of emergency care basics, the ability to distinguish between mild and serious injuries, the ability to focus on critical cases, knowledge of operating medical testing machines and a good understanding of medical charts. While it may be technically possible to attain this job with only a high school diploma, employers want at least a CNA or EMT training certificate.
