A Per Diem LPN is a licensed practical nurse who is hired and paid on daily basis and is not a permanent employee of the medical facility. The job duties include providing direct and indirect patient care through the use of selected nursing skills under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Other accountabilities are listed on the Per Diem LPN Resume as – recognizing and providing for basic and intermediate care needs, exhibiting behaviors that are consistent with the mission, philosophy, and values of the hospital, and nursing home; being accountable for the ethical and legal responsibilities related to the scope of practice, assuming duties as assigned by the RN or physician in the delivery of direct nursing care and procedures; recording accurate and pertinent information on the patient’s records, and completing all other responsibilities as needed.
The nature of the job demands the following skills and abilities – record-keeping skills, basic understanding of quality improvement and quality assurance, nursing skills, manual dexterity, and physical agility; the ability to comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices, and computer skills. A nursing degree from an approved nursing school and experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse is preferred.
