A Stenographer takes dictation using either the stenotype machine or shorthand notation and then transcribes these notes as documents. While these professionals work for almost all sectors, the duties carried out by them are common and are listed on the Stenographer Resume as – recording people’s remarks at meetings and other proceedings; giving a summary report or word-to-word transcript; performing office tasks such as filing, typing, answering phones, and operating office machines; and using special tools to accurately transcribe the words.
The nature of the job demands the following skills and attributes – familiarity with all types of stenography tools, subject matter expertise, accuracy and being confidential, multitasking skills, the ability to capture lengthy details skillfully and correctly, and punctuality. Though a degree is not a mandatory requirement, most of the eligible resumes highlight an associate’s degree as a qualification.
